Thanh and Huy have known each other for years. But their first collaboration didn’t occur until April 2024. Thanh started working on a side project from a big client and wanted a hand, well, maybe two hands and a brain, from an outsider. So he sent Huy a message and Huy immediately said okay. One plus one equal six. The us two finished the work in mid May 2024. The final step was to bring the product to the App Store and Google Play.

While things went well on the App Store front, there was a big deal with Google Play. The 20-tester-in-14-day policy prevented us from launching the result of our collaboration the same day on both platforms. We decided to hire 20 testers from a team. Not only would that help us pass the closed testing round, but also we expected the team would give us some real feedbacks about the product.

However, we put our eggs in the wrong basket. The “testers” turned out to be automated and the devices was reset during the test because they were also used for other purposes. Therefore when we sent out an update, those “testers” won’t be able to install it. That made our application for production didn’t go well and you can predict what would happen next.

So we both agreed to hire real users to do the job. The cost was obviously more expensive but the successful production grant blew the tension away. Yep. Our work could finally see the sun and moon.

After the celebration with the client, Thanh started to think “Why don’t we use what we had to do to help other developers out? It would be harmful if a young developer’s feet had to be put in the same shoes that we wrongly picked!”. He shared the idea to Huy and once again Huy didn’t hensitate to say agree. That’s how and why our 20 Play Testers business started.
